Academy Road Stormwater Improvements
Project Overview
The Academy Road Stormwater Improvements Project is a joint Whatcom County and City of Bellingham project in the Academy sub-basin to reduce phosphorus loading and treat stormwater runoff from approximately 76 acres of residential area. The project includes a series of water quality treatment facilities including a Filterra and media filtration system with piping, catch basins, and pre-treatment vaults. This project implements a dual treatment system that removes a higher percentage of phosphorus compared to the standard system. The project is funded with local funds and grants from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
