The Lake Whatcom Policy Group typically meets every other month to discuss Lake Whatcom policy topics and provide policy guidance and direction to staff. The group includes representatives from Bellingham City Council, Whatcom County Council, the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Board of Commissioners, and Sudden Valley Community Association, as well as staff.
Policy Group meetings are hybrid with an in-person option at Pacific Street Operations Center Room 114 (2221 Pacific Street) and a remote option on Zoom (use this link).
These meetings are open to the public, although they do not typically include a public comment period. Public comments related to Lake Whatcom can be submitted by email at any time to lakewhatcom@cob.org or mailed to City Council, 210 Lottie Street, Bellingham WA 98225.
In addition to the Lake Whatcom Policy Group meetings, there is also a joint legislative meeting of the Lake Whatcom Management Program that includes all representatives from Bellingham City Council, Whatcom County Council, and the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Board of Commissioners. This meeting is typically held annually in the spring, with an in-person option in City Council Chambers (210 Lottie Street) or remote option through Zoom.
